ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
Scientific Research Ethics
The following points should be considered for the ethics committee report:
Ethics committee approval should be obtained separately for studies conducted in social sciences and for clinical and experimental studies on humans and animals that require an ethics committee decision, and this approval should be stated and documented in the article. Articles should include a statement about compliance with Research and Publication Ethics.
In studies that require permission from the Ethics Committee, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) should be included in the method section and also on the first/last page of the article.
In case reports, it is necessary to include information that the informed consent/consent form was signed in the article.
Studies that require the approval of the Ethics Committee are as follows:
All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from the participants by using survey, interview, focus group work, observation, experiment, interview techniques. Use of humans and animals (including material/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes, Clinical studies on humans, Studies on animals, Retrospective studies in accordance with personal data protection law. Moreover; Obtaining and specifying permission from the owners for the use of scales, surveys, photographs belonging to others, Indication of compliance with copyright regulations for the intellectual and artistic works used.
Researchers who are not members of the university can apply to the Ethics Committees in their regions for the Ethics Committee Report.
PUBLICATION ETHICS
Writers;
Persons who do not contribute to the study during scientific research and writing should not be cited as authors.
The same publication should not be sent to more than one journal.
It is recommended (by TUBITAK ULAKBİM TR Index) not to include the Advisor as the first author in studies produced from graduate theses.
It is recommended (by TUBITAK ULAKBİM TR Index) to give a Statement of Contribution of Researchers, Statement of Support and Acknowledgment, if any, and Conflict at the end of the article to the author(s).
Author(s) should avoid situations such as irresponsible authorship, piracy, fabrication, multi-publishing, split-publishing, biased source, biased publication, violation of human-animal ethics, which are stated as unethical behaviors.
The author(s) should act in accordance with the citation system specified in the journal during the writing phase of the candidate article.
Unpublished studies should not be cited as a source.
All or part of any work cannot be published without permission or without reference (plagiarism).
The author(s) should indicate the financial sources of the study, if any.
The status of the article regarding ethical issues and ethics committee permissions should be clearly stated in the methods section of the article.
EDITORIAL ETHICS
Editor(s);
In the full-text article to be sent to the reviewers, care should be taken not to include the names of the author(s), and the author should not inform the reviewers of their names.
The candidate is obliged to appoint at least two reviewers suitable for the subject of the article.
It should ensure the communication between the reviewers and the corresponding author, taking into account the blind review process.
They should maintain their relations in a transparent and objective manner without discriminating between any authors and reviewers.
They should not use their position for their own personal and academic interests.
Candidates for rejection should provide clear and detailed justifications for the articles.
Scientific research should also consider publication and reviewers ethics.
REVIEWER ETHICS
The reviewers must be experts in the fields addressed by the candidate article.
They should make their criticisms objectively and clearly.
Reviewers should not request to learn the names of the author(s) of the work they will evaluate, and should not be shared with third parties, considering that the manuscripts are personal.
The candidate in the evaluation process should not transfer information for their own studies from the article, and should not pursue any academic/personal interests.
Candidates to be rejected should clearly and in detail state the reasons for rejection for the articles.
It should also consider the rules of scientific research and publication ethics.
Reviewers must specify their titles and names in the evaluation report.
