Examination of Kemal ÖZER’s Work Called Trains are Beautiful in Terms of Aesthetic Values

Abstract

In the research, Kemal Özer's work entitled Trains are Beautiful was examined. It was examined whether this work carries aesthetic values and the sentences and paragraphs that carry elements of aesthetic value were classified. After that, the answer was sought to the question of whether this work meets the criteria in terms of aesthetic value.

In this study, taking the criteria of document review as one of the qualitative research methods, the book review text entitled “How beautiful are trains” was created. In order to ensure the data richness, a semi-structured interview form was applied to 33 students, and twenty items created to determine aesthetic values were submitted to the opinions of field experts working at the Faculty of Education of Yildiz Technical University to ensure the validity of the content. In accordance with the opinions and recommendations of field experts, aesthetic values have been given their final form. After being submitted to the expert opinion and accepted, the book was examined by taking the criteria in these articles. The collected data were analyzed by semi-structured interview form and content analysis method. As a result of the study, all twenty items that were taken as criteria were determined in the book and the opinions of the students who responded to the semi-structured interview form were also taken and analyzed.
